AdvancedPolls Module Problem  Bottom

  • Hi,

I have installed AdvancedPolls Module version 1.51 into my Postnuke 0.726 installation, and am getting the following error message when I click on the icon on Administration menu.

Failed to load module AdvancedPolls ( At function: "main" )

    My configurations are as follows:
    Postnuke 0.726
    pnRender installed
    AutoTheme
The module has a sub-directory name "AdvancedPolls"

Is there any other Poll module than this?

    Many thanks in advance.
  • This version of advanced polls only tested (and fully functional) on .750 or above. Since there are security issues in versions of PN earlier that .750 you should consider an upgrade.

Firstly you have the module folder wrong - why change the name from the way the module is packages (using advanced_polls)? However even if you fix this you'll have other problems as the module uses .750 core features.

  • Thanks for reply.

The reason I named the directory as "AdvancedPolls" is that my version does not create a module name when unzipped. Since this version does not work on Postnuke 0.726, I will have to look for other similar modules.

Is there any module out there, which accepts unregistered user's vote?

    Many thanks in advance.
  • I've just checked both zip and gzip versions and both extract out ok with the correct directory structure. You could try the older 1.1 version which will run on .726 - however no support is provided for this version.

Please bear in mind that .726 is no longer considered a secure version of PN. Security patches are no longer issued for this version nor is support provided. A recernt security advisory was issue for .750 but all PN versions were affected. I supplied unsupported manual code diffs to correct the issue in .726 (in the comments) - have you made sure you've applied those?

  • Thank you for your advice.

I installed version 1.1, and it works fine.
