I have spent numerous hours panning through postnuke.com looking for just the right modules and blocks to put on my site. The funny thing is, the way stuff is laid out on this site is absolutely disastrous. I'm sure there are a few ppl that could agree with this. When you go to the pnThemes area, we are blasted with "Commercial Themes" but where are the free themes? Where are the basic generic themes or themes that other ppl put out. I like to try different things and tweak and tune and learn how ppl do things, but when I come to this site, I cannot find the things I need or want.

Everything is laid out totally unorganized and it is Really hard to find anything.
I understand the people that are making themes for a "living" should be pushed above on the queue list, but this is getting a bit absurd. If I want to view Commercial Themes, There should be it's own area away from the Free stuff, as not to cause any type of interference.

I think this is spawning other sites to organize better but it is still really hard to find things to better my site. I don't make any money from my website and I cannot justify spending $35 for a theme layout, so web admins and developers, please make it easier to find the much needed mods and blocks and separate the Commercial from the Free. This will encourage users to use PostNuke over other CMS forms.

    THanks and my 2 cents,
    Doc

EVERY commercial theme site also offers free themes...just got to open your eyes. ;)

Yes, the layout of info here does need an overhaul, but you have to also realize that it's no easy task to organize the huge amount of information contained on this site. Nor is it an easy task to forsee everything that will come up in the future.

Please don't complain....people are doing their best with the time that they've got available.

The site is being redesigned, but this isn't going to happen overnight. :)

    Doc,

I see this is yor first post. I assume then that you're still relatively new here and, as such, it's perfectly normal for you to feel overwhelmed. We've all been there.

You could even say I agree with you. In my opinion, postnuke.com is not as organized, inclusive, or as intuitive as I'd like it to be. Of course, how I'd like it to be would reflect my personal preferences and taxonomy which might not be yours.

Stick with it friend, you'll get used to it and, while you'll probably always think you would do things differently or even better, you'll care a lot less. :)

I don't know I guess if you want to find it bad enough it's here. I am completely and totally a newbie in regards to CMS I just finished my first site ever with it. I was able to find out all I needed just may have taken me a bit. I was not forced to show how foolish I really am by asking a foolish question. Just read thru the posts and did find the answers. In regards to themes well there is always the option of doing a search for "free PostNuke themes"

I understand your frustration but considering it is free and the support ect ect is free I guess some inconvience of having to work a bit to find answers is a small price to pay.

Well he does have a point about the themes, I don't understand myself why they don't have two seperate topics one called "Commerical Themes" and the other called something like "Free Themes". Doing that one thing would make it so much easier to seperate them.

Oh I understand what he is saying for sure and yes it would be nice. My whole point was that considering all that is available at no cost and via volunteer effort. Having to be incovienced a bit by a few more mouse clicks or reading a bit more is very small price. As I stated I know zilch about what I am doing but have been able to get what I needed. It has not mattered if was to make something work or cosmetic. Considering the scope of everything they are doing a excellent job. JMHO

;) I think that keeping the free and commercial themes together is a good idea. If not, then people might only go for the freebies and never even see the commercial themes that they just might like enough to purchase. It's definitely a symbiosis of sorts... There's very very few people who are just going to design free themes for the sheer fun of it...there's the domain, hosting, bandwidth, time, support and software to pay for...
