  What I would really like is a link from the main menu that would direct visitors
  to a "banner page" rather than just have one banner rotating on the main page.

  There are many ways to skin this cat - if you happened to be using AutoTheme you would create a blank module then a custom template for this blank module. You could then call 1 - 99 banners within this custom template :)

  Lobos, lobos ... don't you know you have to boil them to make them tasty? Skinning is no good ...
