Hi,
I’m trying to link 1 directory to another directory in Linux with the LN command and its not working!
I have the following situation, I use the UpDownload module that stores thumbnail images in the directory Updownload/shots/tumbs.
With the UpDownload module I made the directory/category shots that is now located in the directory UpDownload/store_folder.
When I use the Ln command to link the shots directory in the store_folder to the one in the UpDowload directory I get the following error
Command I give from a SSH prompt/accound
Ln /public_html/nce/module/Updownload/shots shots (my current location is /public_html/nce/module/Updownload/store_folder)
Error
ln: accessing `/public_html/nce/modules/UpDownload/shots': No such file or directory
This is the first time I use this command! Is it possible what I’m trying to do?
Any light on this is appreciated.
Michiel

Are you sure that the full directory path starts with /public_html/? The "No such file or directory" error would indicate that it doesn't. You can run pwd to get the current directory, just to be sure.
Also, you should use ln -s to make a symbolic link, rather than a hard link. -

Thank you Chuck,
I learned something new today, when you’re a M$ DOS junky it’s sometimes hard to change to the Linux/Unix way of doing things. But you are correct it was a incorrect path! Thanks to the pwd command I found the correct path
Greetings,
Michiel
