Download module with large files  Bottom

  • Hey i have used updownload for a while but i can´t use files larger then 2 mb.

Can eny one help with a better solution?
  • Hi,

This is not a limit of the Updownload module, but in most cases a limit of PHP.
If you have your own server and or access to the PHP.ini file you can change that
Look on this forum or google to see how to do this. Most providers limited this to 2MB and in most cases there is noting you can do about it.

  • Hmmm but is it not on my own server it is on a webserver named www.needhost.dk
  • Then you probably can't do anything about it, and they're not likely to do anything either, depends on how big you need that limit raised to of course.

  • Still there is no harm in contacting the server admin and asking them to make an exception for you. 2 megs seems rather small.
  • Hmm i have contacted them and they have rised it to 4mb but they can´t rise it higher.

But how can i have so big files then? i mean 50 mb files.
  • You can't, unless you can give an FTP method to upload via FTP.

  • But then people can download the files by link to it from outside mit website.
    FX. www.gamle-spil.dk/modules/updownload/test/diablo.rar
  • If they know the link they can do I anyhow

But if Updownload is configured good it won’t show the URL from the website’s point of view!

So it’s harder to find the URL.

Upload the file to a location, category/map/directory created by the UpDownload with FTP.

Then add the files to the PN database by using something like this URL
    http://www.yourdomain/modules/updownload/store_folder/category/filename
