"I'm not at liberty to say." hahahha!

Perhaps making the international portals accountable to a single certifying body would prevent fragmentation but isn't it also possible that a bunch of "certified" sites might be confusing and actually promote fragmentation and decentralization of the PostNuke community?

the certification suggestions were based on some kind of "crest" or logo displayed, which is a sort of license or validation that their site has met the qualifications of a greater authority.. the centalized authority being postnuke.com. I think that centralizes it much more that a bunch of stray/rogue "franchises" ;)

And how do you "pull the plug" on a certified site that suddenly decides to not do, whatever it is, that is required for certification?

..that's a good question.. it's hard to answer.. the entire suggestion is hypothetical, the rules don't exist, so if I were to guess, I'd say request to remove the "seal/banner/logo", removal from the "Certified list" and possibly public notice.. Recognition would essentially cease.

If the goal is to broaden international appeal, couldn't that be done by making PostNuke.com more international? france.postnuke.com; italy.postnuke.com; mexico.postnuke.com; brazil.postnuke.com; newzealand.postnuke.com; markwest.postnuke.com icon_lol ; etc. Maybe do it by continents or, now here's an idea, by language.

hehe.. it would be convenient to forward those domains, but in some instances there are more than one support site for a country..I don't think limiting "official" status to a single site is as nurturing as a partnership.. I agree; site by language would be a good idea.. someone would just have to do it.. the certification basics that I had in mind were very simple: valid (x)HTML, "free" downloads, no smut, advertising would need to be addressed, certification prominantly displayed, official reps elected/chosen/shanghai'd whatver ;) ..etc.. basic.

That said, I do think it's possible now to start certifying contributions and I think this is something that should be considered.

..more importantly it creates a goal.. to obtain that "status".. requirements could be API compliance, templated (x)HTML output and documentation.

No smut? Are you nuts!!! icon_lol

Seriously, Michael H. and I have discussed the problem of certification without teeth. I just don't think it works. Haha..an idea! Put control of the domain's registration into centralized hands. It would make people wake up and listen. First warning, second warning, third...redirect. wink

Even if all the bugs can be worked out and I guess, if there is enough interest, it can be done, I still think all goals should be to avoid fragmentation into a bunch of de facto forks.

the thing is, is that it is working.. right now.. they just have nothing to show for their validity.. post-nuke.net is an excellent example of what should be considered a recognizable PostNuke authority.

..the sites have been functioning, some for years, as "fragmented" global communities without forking..so I wouldn't imagine recognition would do much more than connect the dots and enable users to differentiate the relationship (recognized vs. unrecognized).

  • Nay ninny nave, thou shalt convey merely a marshmallow sword and a shield made of the panties of an unwashed troll grandmother.
  • HAHAHHAHAHAAHHA!!! I don't know if I'll need the sword.

What do you get? What do you get!

You get a Winnebago, a McCulloch Chainsaw, a Las Vegas wedding, a Mexican divorce, an autographed, life-size, photo of Devin's Peeps, and, if you answer the bonus question correctly, a baby's arm holding an apple! icon_lol
