Changing the menu and adding an upload module...

I was wondering... how do you delete modules on the left side of the screen? For example, I want to delete the section "AvantGo". How do I do this? I'm kinda new to this...
And is there some kind of module that will allow you and your members to upload files to a place on the server? Or a mod to the downloads section so that when you are at the "add a download" page, you can click a button that allows you to select a file from your computer to upload. Like imageshack.us . Then that download is stored in a separate folder on the server.

The Menu on the left side of your screen is considered a "Block". So if you click on Blocks from your Administration menu, and click the edit link next to Main Menu you should see AvantGo and you should see a checkbox that lets you delete it.
