v4bJournal: future direction/development of the module  Bottom

  • Hi,

if you're a v4bJournal user, please answer this poll to help me decide which way v4bJournal should be evolving. There are basically 3 options:

    1) Keep it the way it is and push out a 0.99 and a 1.0 release.
    2) Port the whole thing to PN Render, which will make the code cleaner and more easily customizable
    3) Do #2 and also restructure the code so that it would be dependent on an external (free) library. This would involve an extra (free and GPLed) download/module but make the code even more managable and provide some cool new possibilities for the module (such as user-configurable categories, etc).

  • You have done a great job so far with the latest release.

    I use it here:
    http://www.bassinsight.com/index.php?module=v4bJournal&func=main

Feature I would love to see are:
    1. Read More button - To minimize the size of long journals
    2. Upload Multiple pictures.
    3. Multiple Text boxes for mulitple pages of text.
    4. Pagination to work right. ;) Doesn't show multiple pages numbers.(could be a bug on my end)

    5. Categorize Blogs (not as important as above)

Other then that it works SWELL> :) Great job/module and I really enjoy it!
  • Thanks, I'll keep your comments in mind when making changes ...

Categorize Blogs (not as important as above)

This was the intent of my question of the3rd party library dependence. If I go for this, you'd be able to have user definable categories; without this it would simply be a selection the site-wide topics ...

  • I would love to see more blocks.
and somehow allow Journal entries to be viewed like "Other Stories"
I want to integrate them more into my content.

More blocks with functionalities like a teaser and read more in the form of a news story.
    Blocks-
    Most commented Journal
    Last X comments on Journals
    Highest Rated Journal
  • Id love to give my users the ablity to customize it them selves... I think that would satisfy and bring more users in. Colors, bg's, anything.
