Auto Theme related questions...  Bottom

  • Ok I keep seeing AutoTheme, so I looked into it tonight, I like the idea of it and I, tried to find a demo or where to get AutoTheme, but seem to be going in circles.
So... who is actually AutoTheme, I see a lot of sites that are AutoThem related?

What does it coast me to use AutoTheame?

    Pros and cons?

  • You can use both Xanthia and AutoTheme at the same time.
My site http://www.portalthemes.com uses both with no problems.

  • And its important to note that the lite version has all the features necessary to use any AutoTheme. The retail version adds lots of bells and whistles and should be considered by long-term users of the module, but its not really a necessity.

I am trying to load AutoTheme into PN but I can not get it to show up in the Admin Window.

I have uploaded the liteversion of AutoTheme to the root CMS directory as stated in the AT instructions. When I do this it does not show up in Modules. Should it show up in Modules? Or does it just show up in the Admin Panel. It does not show up in the Admin Panel either.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    thank you,
    Keith
  • You are to upload it to the modules directory ^^
  • NO, the zip is set up for upload to the root. Uploading to the modules directory will screw up the actual Modules module. Sadly, I see customers do this all too often and it usually required a full reinstall of postnuke to fix the resulting issues.

    My bad.
  • Honestly, all modules, blocks and themes should be packaged to be installed from the pnRoot, meaning their path should be /theme/themename for themes /modules/modname for modules and /includes/blocks for blocks. That would make life easier on the end user if we all packaged things that way, it would be standard and less confusing I think. It also makes modules like my FirstVisit module easier to do, where there's either more than one module in the package or a modified file for another module.

  • I would recommend always to unpack on your pc and use an FTP to upload.

For people who don't want to spend money on an FTP uploader I can recommend from (my opinion) filezilla it's GPL licenze. You can download it at http://www.tucows.com/preview/209262.html
