  • Thank you for the kind words of compliments and for the faith that I'll be up to the task of accomplishing the goal. For me this is a good learning experience and I will try to do a good job of it.
  • Nice to see you back in the fray Chuck..

  • Anyone else for membership management?
  • I may be able to help you, CliffT. You've been asking for quite a while (and patient, I might add). I've got a user registration and subscription module up and operating but it needs some more work. As soon as I'm confident it won't cause global warming or teenage pregnancy, I'd be happy to send you something to play with. :D

  • Improved user management and registration (Xuser style). This could already be in .8 though.
  • If I may suggest, I'd love to see better navigation approach, hierarchies(subjects, topics), ability to trace your path (breadcrumbs) etc.

    Ira,
I'm looking forward to something to play with on this. Have you considered making the product listing and bidding system seperate modules? I can personally see more value in just the bid system than the listing aspect of things. The listing system could be used to power auctions or shopping carts, the bid system could be used to either bid on items or bid for jobs.

You can have a look at what I have come up with so far and let me know if this is flowing along with what you had in mind. This is the first pass at the database design after the breakout, but it should be well enough along to give you the idea of where my thoughts are going. If you like what you see then let me know so I can officially register the two additional modules that will be a product of this creation.

Your input is very much welcomed.
  • Thanks Slugger. I (and my association members) would really appreciate this!

  • My vote is for a user management interface that the admin can use for mass registration and have more control on member information. Would be very useful in organizational / company sites where user registration IS MANAGED

All I ask is that you not distribute it. Just drop me a PM and tell me where to send it.

  • One of the modules on my would love to have list and that fits in with what you guys were talking about with Ira's auction system with breaking out into smaller modules that have use elsewhere. Would be a buyer/seller/trader feedback system. Always thought that would be usefull for anyplace that has classifideds or if it is a hobby type of site where there is always someone buying or selling.

The other one would be the mailbag module with a little extra extra. Something allong the lines of Mail2Forum for phpBB to work with the News module. I have had quite a few people wondering if it was possible to news stories emailed to them when they are posted or every x many new storys and of course have news submited via email like mailbag does. Its amazing how much you can do with a website and people still love thier yahoo groups or want everything to work like them. icon_rolleyes

Speaking of MailBag just wondering real quick if anyone has it working with .750 mine died on upgrade. Havent had a chance to scavage to deeply to find what the cause of the error might be.

    Good topic BTW.
