Currently a client of mine has a web page, with three topics, under each topic is a a set of links to different pdf files. Here is a screen shot of what the user sees:
http://macscr.com/pnposts/user.jpg
Here is what the admin sees:
http://macscr.com/pnposts/admin.jpg
As you can see, the admin has the ability to upload the file, name the link. It is also easy for the admin to remove links, etc. Pretty simple setup.
I guess since there is no dating system really setup, archiving will be a mess. The script that is being used is perl and is using a flat file database, so porting and tweaking this script is out of the guestion. There will also be a page that guests can see, and then another one for members.
Any ideas? Im thinking about hacking up the updownload module. But thats a lot of hacking. Want to make it as easy as possible for the admin.
Thanks for any input.

I use WSNLinks for this, with a user integration script to tie the user database to PN. See the forums on the WSNLinks site, and search for this in the archives here, for details. -

Thanks for the idea, but I had already looked at it. Does way more than I need it to as far as the admin area. And to be honest its not that much different than weblinks or downloads as far as functionality. -

I gave up on hacking updownloads. The code is just a little to old and hacked up. Doh. -

A new uploaddownload module? Yes, i have already played with it. All it is is a hacked downloads module. Its not like it was written from scratch. The original code was really bad, this module has code that is 4 years old and poorly written. It works for most if they are just needing something to replace the downloads module.
So do you run pbxinfo.com? Im a phone tech myself. Mostly work on Avaya equipment thank God. Nice site, thanks for the info. -

Though it takes a bit of PHP and apache settings tweaks, by far the best upload/download module is NukeOwl. Though originally built for phpNuke it has been modded for PN .7.5.0 It has a robust permissions system built into the module, and it allows one to preview the document before downloading. I think I got it from sitescandanavia.com but if you ask google, I'm sure he'll provide you with an answer...

Thanks for the ideas guys, but im not trying to go the downloads module route, as that will always have so much extra stuff and not even close to the format im looking for. This i just for pdf files, maybe excel or doc files. But not for browsing downloads, etc. -

Yeah, with NukeOwl you can both download AND view files through the module. Check it out: http://www.sitescandinavia.net/index.php?module=NukeOwl&func=view&parent=2
click on the "User Guide" pdf in the "title" column and it will open up for you, click on "NukeOwl_2.2.pdf" in the "File" column and it'll download for you...
Again you can set permissions for every document during the upload process. This will allow you to make certain files visible to guests, admins, and users and more...
this is prob the best combination of what you're looking for...I think...? -

Its more of a filemanager though. Im just looking for a listing of documents under a category name. With the ability of the admin to upload it and name the link, thats it. I appreciate the idea though. -

Hey Remington, you say it's been modded for PN 0.750? Which one is that? -

I just ended up having someone write the module for me. Thanks everyone for the suggestions though.
