..sorry, but I agree.. scrolling has gotten well out of hand and is one of the most distracting elements in use. I honestly don't mind a single, well placed, unobtrusive marquee, but I'm seeing more and more sites destroy the integrity of their content with marquees rolling in every direction, with different colors and plastered haphazardly. I'd suggest finding a "cleaner" method of displaying your content, but if I can't pursuade you: look into the marquee tag.

thanks guys....i didnt stop to think whether it was annoying to others. As you guys mentioned, I noticed a lot of sites using it, and thought Id play around with it. Maybe I wont now.
Thanks!!! -

..forgot to hint on it being a proprietary tag as well. it's not valid (x)HTML, like scroll bars, they were added by IE without recognition from the w3c.
I think it's good to experiment..definitely. just try not to over do it :) ..and consider the fact that you document will not validate with this tag in place.

PS: just read the bottom of the page I linked above.. hahahha..: "special notes: Like the blink tag, this tag can be hard for people to read and annoy others." -

There are a number of cross-browser compatible javascript utilities that do scrolling, fades, ticker tapes and similar effects. (I found some during research for the rssdisplay module (from http://www.mtrad.com) which kind of does some of that.)
Here's a collection of such scripts: http://www.dynamicdr….com/dynamicindex2/
There's also a PN-type scroller, Newsscroller 10 from www.nuy.info.
