  • The time period suggests a IP Scan for vulnerabilities... Essentially a nice Script Kiddie. He probably didnt even look at your site, but just added the line automatically as part of his script. I would assume the IP Address he used, isnt his IP address, but another compromised system running a script. So If I was you, I would report the problem to the IP host, fix the flaw on your server, and move on. If this was an issue with postNuke, we would hear hundreds of reports of problems...
  • Please do not cross post... This clutters the forum, and can lead to parrel discussions. Please do not do this anymore.
  • Actually you can sign up with my webhosting.

    We have no cpanel though.

Prices is negotiable and I do offer unlimited bw and space.
  • No such thing as unlimited bandwidth and space. Hard drives have limits, NICs and Routers can only pass so much data.

  • It looks like as explained before you most likely had your access to your server compromised, usually via ftp...

You could change your server configuration to not pull up the index.html or index.htm file in your site root. I have not read all the posts, but if you are running Apache on your server then then change the httpd.conf file to reflect what kind of files the server should serve on a root request. It looks like your installation is ok except for images...get rid of the index.htm or index.html file in your server root...
  • I see that you have changed your site...what was the problem?

I dont think that your site was hacked via PN. I am interested to know what the fix was.

I don't like the midphase offers, because they neither tell you how much GB traffic the account includes, nor does it say how much bandwidth you have (traffic and bandwidth are 2 different things! I got 100 GB traffic limit on a 100 Mbit bandwidth).

Most so-called "unlimited" traffic hosts limit your bandwidth, for example to 1 Mbit/sec. Sounds much, but isn't.
i.e. 1Mbit/sec = approx. 10GB/day or 300GB/month, So there is a theoretical limit of 300GB/month, given you constantly use the full capacity. But in reality, there are peaks in traffic, so that this "unlimited" offer is really very limited in its use and will be adequate for approx 2500-3000 visitors/day. With more visitors, some http requests will not be served, due to bandwidth limit.

"unlimited" or "unmetered" offers therefore make me run away.

BTW, if the traffic is "unmetered", how do they know you've used up your allowed traffic???

  • Thanks for all your help, the FTP crap has been changed, and my index files backed up. I think I'll stick with my buggy host until the end of the year, not far... then go shopping. A buddy of mine just got a t1 down the street from me, he's charging quite a bit for his rack space, but I would have local access to the server. Would that be worth the $$$, my audience is mostly local ohioans and fans of our strange littel bands. Thanks again pnForum, bwahahaha
