Crayhillsolutions.com has somehow had its database destroyed. I fear that the hosting company I am with was compromised, leading to the site database being erased.
I am looking into the issue, but I am wondering if any of the modules I have put together have a security issue with them. I will be looking into this as we work on bringing my data back up.
It would be ashame if someone could compromise this because of a flaw I had in some code. I wrote many applications for postNuke, and then shared them with the world. Looking at these applications could then lead to the use of this data to compromise my system. I am really worried about these issues, and must bring in the community to come to a clear understanding of what went on. I will have this discussion in a transparent way, in order to help come up with a practical solution, and cause. If someone caused this issue, I will find out and press charges.
I am wondering if I can get a few people to look at the many modules I have written, and will see if a SQL injection is possible. I can only hope that this issue is localized to my ISP, and is not a wider issue.
I am trying hard to start my company, and am worried that people may take this acknowledgment of a problem as a flaw in my services. I feel the acknowledgment of the problems in an honest and open way leads to more secure solutions in the future. I feel that those who don't acknowledge issues are the people who are most vulnerable. I only hope I can get community support on my choice to share these issues openly.

Why don't you list your modues and versions? Also, has your host had any explanations? I hope you backed up your data at some point...

I had my custom Pagesetter plugins installed, and shared them with the public,
I also had EZComments, EZLinks, pnBB, autolinks, the contact us module Formicula, stats, and many other solutions. I notified my ISP of a problem about 3 days ago, it centered around my EZLinks database table.

I think I and my hosting company droped the ball. I didnt have my homepage set to my default browser page, so I feel these problems have gone un-noticed for some time.

these are the 2 log files I have. Doesnt seem to contain any usefull info...
Somehow the database permissions where changed. I dont know how or why, but it isnt good. I am looking into this issue, and I hope to get more help from you guys.

maybe I missed it in here..but..have you spoken to your host about this yet? I'm willing to bet they did it...moving things around, upgrading..etc.. it's too early to assume anything if you haven't spoken with them. -

I am still triing to get the log files for the day in question. I am hoping I may be able to do that.
I am assuming it was my host company:(
They use some REALLY stupid hosting software, that is almost never updated. Unfortunately I have some problems with Pagesetter, do to the age of MySQL on these machines. It is really upsetting, but there isnt much I can do about it.

Yes there is, look elsewhere for hosting. This kind of thing happened to me at the start of my web career - I had been working my ass of for a week on my site and various projects when all of a sudden all the work I had done just disappeared... it was like I had gone back in time or something...
After continual emails to my webhost I finally got it out of them, the fact that they had reset their server to a back up, a back up which was over a week old... bastards didn't even give me an hour to back my shit up - not like it would of mattered as they were installing a backup from a week ago...
Anyway I soon got rid of them and many of my problems as I had the experince to choose a host more suited to the toys I like to play with :)
Hosting is dirt cheap now and you can get packages for a pittance... click the link in my signature for a good deal ;)

I agree, it's very easy to solve your problem. You can get a quality reseller account, 2gig space, 20 gig of bandwidth, 50 domain max account for $35, includes PHP/MySQL/Perl ect. CPanel control panel software (probably the best of the bunch IMHO). With that you can host your own sites, then add hosting to your array of service. in the 3 years I've been with this company, I've only had maybe 5 tickets from clients, and very few problems, and they are almost always on top of issues before any clients have a chance to even say something, communicate well, ect.

I get all of this with unlimited domains and 50gb bandwidth and WHM as well for $16.95 - you are right though, you need to shop around that is the best way find the best deal.

I have been extremely happy with HostRocket for my gaming site (Link in my sig)
And the portalthemes.com site is hosted on dedicated server from 1and1.com for 70.00 a month.
