and skills?
Hi - I am a newb to site building, examples http://www.jacobbalian.com and http://www.innerdreamrecords.com. I want to be able to do a PHP site, how do I get started? I was told to get the CMS software and dig in.
Are there experts here who could set me down the right path so that I will be able to market this as an additional skill?
Thank you!

The O'Reilly books on PHP are pretty good - look for Learning PHP, whatever the current edition is. Start writing scripts, and try out PostNuke to see some powerful applications.
PHP is the kind of language that does not expect you to string together 9 commands to do one thing. There are lots of commands that do very specific things. I think of it as very un-perl like.
There are also books on PHP and MySQL used together - search http://slashdot.org for a review of one in the past few months that was reviewd pretty favorably. PHP is cool, but combining it with databases starts getting you some real power and cool applications.

Start with Kevin Yank's book from SitePoint.com, then try Harry F's books from them.
