Can we add a Amazon Block on PostNuke.com that helps provide a view of the new PostNuke book. We can then use the referral money for advertising on Goggle, or another use.
It would also be nice if we had a "Donate To PostNuke" instead of a "Donate to Firefox Block!"
Promoting this book, can only lead to Great things for postNuke, and can provide us with validity on our clams of a strong system.
------------------------
AAlso, Firefox gets enough publicity. Postnuke could really use some more.

There's nothing in place to deal with donations to the project it self at this point.

Before a non-profit organisation is established, a donation block isn't feasible. A lot hinges on the non-profit organisation...

...and whether management wants to be one (or not)...

Lobos,
Your innuendo that mgmt doesn't have the best interest of this project at heart is not surprising but is disappointing and your suggestion we are in this for money is mud slinging!
Just to make this clear, the mgmt is committed to PostNuke and we are responsible for the stewardship of the project with respect to making sure it continues to grow and support webmasters when we have all moved on to other things. We know a foundation is the first step in securing this future and a non-profit PostNuke foundation has been set-up but there are some final details that need to be taken care of before we make an "official announcement" with all the details.

Sorry vWorld, this is the fact - if management wants it, it will happen, if management doesn't it won't - is this true? So if the community voted to have postnuke become a non-profit org and most voted yes, what would happen, would it become this? Yes it would if management wanted it to, no it wouldn't if they did not. I did not have any malice in this statement, I just stated a fact. (in fact I don't care either way - I was just pushing the fact that the word of management is final (which I don't have a problem with either).
Now tell me, vworld, where did I make the "suggestion we are in this for money" - lol I can't see how you guys are making any money out of this... but if you are, good luck to you - I know I am doing MY best to make some coin with postnuke
PS: Welcome back :)

Hey Lobos,
Thanks for the clarification. I guess I read more into this than necessary but it has been a constant mantra, i.e., everyone thinks we're all in this for some kind of money that hasn't materialized yet. :)
With respect to making money with PostNuke, I hope you and every other person who provides quality support/services get paid for your time/efforts. This is fair and deserved.
Personally, I will be spending more time on building my business over the next year and hope to get more paying clients.
Thanks,
V
P.S. Thanks for the welcome back.

Look I know there has been a fair bit of "dirty water under the bridge" in the past, but I hope we can put this behind us - I can understand that due to this it will be easy to read more into my posts then is really there is, but Frankly I get as fed up as you guys about this constant stuff in regards to "fix the site", "better docs", etc.
It is understood that those in charge here have a system in place that seems to be working and are currently moving to enhance the website, etc - it just becomes frustrating when people come along that don't understand this and start trying to change everything, and then get mad when their recommendations are not put into place within the week - people have to understand that this takes time and considerable effort.
I have been working on my new website for 8 months now, and it is still a few months out - this stuff takes time, it always goes quick at the start, but things bog down after awhile...
I have learnt that if you want to do something right, you can't rush - every site I have made for myself has ended up rushed and disappointing, so I can understand how things could be working here as well, like I said everything starts fast, with lots of energy, and then reality sets in, things come up - you want to do something new, family commitements, work, etc. All of a sudden things aren't as fun as they were before, and one can become reluctant to continue...
Anyway, I have nothing against pnManagement; on the contrary it is in my best interest to swim with the current rather than against it ;)

No worries, I'm willing to let by-gones be by-gones. Let's look to the future. :)

Agreed, this tends to come up but a possible solution could be a doc addressing all these things then we can refer the person to the information. :)

I know how that goes with respect to site development, seems like it is never complete and always a work in progress!

Looking towards the future I know we can do a better job of communicating with the community and I hope this has been happening more often over the past six months. Something that's been/being discussed is some kind of third-party dev club that would act as a communications bridge and provide updated information etc about the changes/updates to the core. And before I left for the funeral & Thanksgiving I was talking with Hazan from Poland regarding organizing an IRC meeting to discuss the possibilities. I hope we'll have some kind of news on this front in the next week or so.
Regards,
Vanessa

This is a what you might call a sore subject for me. It is something I've been pushing for a long, long, time. A PostNuke Foundation is, and always has been, a good idea.
For those of you outside the US, a 501 (c) (3) corporation is a non-profit charitable entity. It allows for tax free benefits (for the corporation) and gives opportunity to people willing to support it with financial and in kind donations the opportunity for a tax deduction.
Until it is organized into such a legal entity, PostNuke is not eligible for a variety of corporate, government, and private grants.

As has been stated before, something is in the works, it's not something to rush in to quickly, it takes time.
