Michael, I don't have the time to dedicate, but I'd like to make it happen.. need a Wiki or something to map features, pull what's available from CVS and go from there.. I "should" have more time in January.. bills, bills and more bills to pay :?

    [edit]
..oh yeah.. this too .. it would be pretty dumb to not pursue this avenue.

I also would be interested in working on this. What I will do, is install a version of .750 on a extra domain I got running. If we could get a few people who would like to set up a "default" version, I can provide ftp and admin access. That way we can start installing software, get it all right, and then we can just export the database. We would de-install allot of the non-usefull modules. This way it can remain easy to use.

For me to do this, I would want crayhillsolutions to be the home of this distro, and be the place to find support (if its not postNuke).

We can use the blogging software as listed above, and we can make it run with AutoThemes, if the guys over at autothemes help out. This project could make postnuke a valid blog alternative.

This will only happen with a few people who want to help out. I hope to see some people to say "I do" on this.

  • I like this idea. Especially given that Wordpress has a goofy CSS theming system that baffles the casual HTML programmer (its not even three columns without modification).

I'm not sure why it would be important to strip out a lot of things. Why not just package the GPL blog and autothemes software into a new self-installing distro and call it pnBlog?

I'd be willing to donate a few blog suitable themes to the GPL just to make it a viable alternative to wordpress and the like. We could also have a mini-distro just for those folks who want to auto-install with Fantastico and then just add the blog files in a single install.
