Hi,
i'm new to Postnuke. i used to worked with Absolute Engine but i found that it lacks of many features.
1) Okay, i want to design a Video games website now.
Regarding the design i want to do it myself, no default theme or anything. so i was wondering what do i have to learn in Postnuke in order to do that ? Xanthia theme or anything else ?
2) In Absolute Engine, i use to build my page with Dreamweaver and intergrate the PHP code in the tables in wanted. then everythg is manage via an online admin page. If time i post news or upload files it shows up at in the pages at the place i inserted the codes.
so, what is the system in Postnuke ? is it the blocks stuff ? Is it possible to create news categories and sub-categories, etc...
3) There will be a recorded games section, which feature in Postnuke is the more accurate to manage that ? (people will be able to download files, i want it to be arranged by dates, games version, etc...)
Thanks in advance for your replies :)

I don't think you will have a problem in using Postnuke for this, although you may find PN to be a little different to what you are used to in regards to AE, the main thing being that postnuke runs as a modular system, for example the downloads feature you requested runs as a module as do many other systems eg: forum, news, weblinks, etc.
In regards to "building your page" you have two excellent choices here (we call it theme design), you can use AutoTheme (a good beignners option) or Xanthia (more complex, but more control over module design). Both of these systems are similiar to your descritoption of AE, whereby you add the PHP to the tables in DW, but you don't need to add PHP, you add tags that are auto replaced by the PHP at runtime.
Anyway have a browse around, take a look at some postnuke sites from the weblinks area on the front page to get an idea if it will suit your needs.
Kindest regards
