In my Member's List area I think it's showing people logged in when they aren't. Sometimes I'd look and see that someone was logged in when I didn't think they were (for example, I have someone signed up and I have their MSN name.) They would be offline and yet their screen name would still show up as logged onto the site. I thought it was kind of weird at first but then I just assumed maybe that person was still on...

But now. I have two screen names signed up on my site. My admin name and a testing name. Right now, logged into admin it's showing that my tester name is logged in as well. It's never done this before. Is there something messed up with the Member's List module on my site? Or is this just something common and beyond anyone's control. Or maybe the name's that are online isn't refreshed for a while?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I believe once you're logged in, the system keeps you logged in and will show you as such for a little while. Though if you log out, It should update that.

    Thanks for the post mhalbrook,

Would you be able to tell me if the user is only erased from appearing online if they log out? For example, if I sign into my site using IE and I don't logout, instead I simply exit IE. Would I still appear as online? Would I have to actually click "Log out" to appear logged out? Or do you know?

    Thanks.

..there's a setting in Admin->Settings that you can set for session expire time and "how long after a user is considered 'inactive'" .. they will not appear in the list after the "inactivity period" and they're session will be destroyed after the "expire time"..

Thanks for the post InvalidResponse. More than likely my problem. I had it set for 500 minutes for some reason.

Also, I've found that when I log onto one of my sites through the firewall at work, it doesn't always know when I'm on and I can be logged on with both my admin name and one of my test names simultaneously, even when I log off. Elsewhere on dial-up and no (little) firewall, no problems.
