statistics V8 & ip_country table  Bottom

  • Hi,

Downloaded and installed Statistics V8 from mtrad.com on my local install of PN 750 gold & everything was working perfectly.

However, when I exported the DB using phpMyAdmin I noticed the DB size had increased and was over 8mb when before it was under 500k.

I then dropped the DB and tried to import it back in (Still local), I received a No SQL Query! message.

After some playing around I narrowed it down to the IP_COUNTRY table (part of the statistics module) once I dropped that table not only did the DB size go back to sub 500k but the import using myphpadmin worked too.

I did manage to get the DB loaded to the live site, but i did have to use putty telnet to import the DB as apposed to phpMyAdmin.

Just thought it was worth bringing to attention in case anyone else has the same issue. icon_rolleyes
  • I think it's documented in the README included in the statistics module. If it isn't then it will be in the next version. wink

The size of a fully populated IP_COUNTRY table is another reason why it isn't populated by default during install/upgrade. Webmasters can choose whether to load it or not.

And the IP_COUNTRY table can be used by other modules to identify the country of origin for users... unfortunately, it takes a fair amount of data to map the IP address space to countries.
