Hello, I am new to PostNuke; I installed easyPhP 1.7 and succesfully installed PostNuke on my local machine, with no problems.

I have a simple question: how do I edit graphical details of the main page? For instance, how do I change the logo?

Do I have to mess with the "themes" thingie to get this done?

    Thanks in advance.

    (i'm a n00b trying to help a fellow n00b)

well umm if u wanan change logos and stuff, u need a graphics editor like photoshop. if u just some of the themes u download, they have a folder called source. u can go there to find photoshop files of banners and stuff from the site. so u can just open that up and edit it and "Save as web" to the image file of whatever ur doing.

    hope that helps :)

    I'm also new...hopefully I can still help.

If you simply wish to replace your header logo. Right click and select properties to find the location of that particular image. Then go into your FTP and upload an image you want to replace it with (with the same file) over the other one. That's the simple way.

If you wish to change the whole layout of your site click Xanthia in your admin section and activate a theme, then click "edit theme" and that's where you'll find all the templates of your layout.

Yes, however take note of the width and height of the image, if you change it, you will need to change your theme files too.

This is assuming you use a Xanthia theme, if you use an AutoTheme Theme, you will have to edit the HTML files to change the layout.

You can open the themes/PostNuke/pntemplates/ file and change it.

You can also open the files through Administration > Xanthia and edit it there.

I made it to change the logo by changing the "logo.gif" with another image, but this was not my goal.

How can I change the theme? I mean, which file I should change to redirect the main logo image of the site to another image, for example a .jpg instead than a .gif?

There is a sticky tutorial in (I think) the core themes and design forum. It details how to do this.

Don't forget, there's lots of theme sites around (Including http://themes.postnuke.com) that have great free themes that you can use instead of makeing a totally new one. You can always start with someone else's theme and customize it, too.

    Good luck!

Uhm, there is no such tutorial. But I'll take a look to some free theme to start with.

Again, does anyone knows how to choose which image is displayed as a logo? I mean where can I change the name and extension of the selected image.

You're right - that tutorial is in the XTE forum. Here's a link:

    http://forums.postnuke.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=23333

You change the name and extension of the image in the theme.php file for the theme you're working with. It should be in the header function.
