The current multiple language facility lends itself well to translations of website UI, as well as articles with different languages.
However, there does not appear to be any way to allow multiple translations for particular articles or other entities. That is, to be able to post a particular news item or other article in multiple languages, one has to post multiple articles, each with a different language association. Then, when one wants to edit these, one has to switch between interface languages for them to show up for editing.
It would be nice to be able to associate multiple language texts with a particular article/whatever and manage them as a unit. That is, common programming attributes and the like, but it would show up under all languages that had been defined for it and show the relevent language text.
Also, it would be nice to have a "translator" user role who could edit translations for a particular set of languages for certain database entities, perhaps even UI descriptions.
I've got users who are interested in doing translations of my English-only content, but there doesn't appear to be a good way to do this within the current framework.
Does anyone else think this would be valuable? Am I missing something?
