  Currently, when I click on an entry in my personal journal (v4bJournal-0.97), it displays the selected entry, and all previous entries. Is there a way I can limit the returned entries to just the one I selected?

  I don't think so. Your entire journal is displayed when you view your journal, not any specific journal entry.

  I see an opportunity now to either hack the code, or for the product to be updated since it becomes quite a mess if the user has a large journal - even a single long entry can create a massive web page.
  
  Does anyone know a way to display on the selected journal entry when the user clicks to view it?

  I've actually thought about putting such a feature into the Journal, however, I never found the time to actually do so. If you want to hack this feature in, I'd suggest you use the 0.98-Beta1 release I just put up as a base as it contains significant fixes; sorry I don't have time to do this myself at this point in time.
  
  If you do the hacking, I'll gladly merge your changes with the main codeline so that all users benefit from your improvements.

  Thanks for the vote of confidence. I am not a coder, though I am intrigued by the opportunity. By the time I identify the section of code, you will likely have fixed it yourself. Nevertheless, I may try to take a stab at it. If I do, I'll pass it along to you.

  That's very optimistic of you (:D). If you look at the releases of v4bJournal they're rather infrequent. I wouldn't mind spending more time of v4bJournal, but my professional situation just doesn't allow it; v4bJournal work is done late at night or on weekends.
  
  As such, if you want this soon (ie: before the end of the year), your best bet is to hack it yourself. The v4bJournal code is (more or less) pretty orderly; it should not be too hard to find your way through it.
