my core stats module suddenly stopped displaying any thing so i downloaded this third party stats module. inside "Parameter Configuration" i am unable to check "Collect Statistics?" check box. When ever i check it and click on submit it loads the main page of statistics if recheck "Parameter Configuration" the checkbox is unchecked.
i have inserted that line in pnAPI.php file. anything else that i am missing.
please help me.

You'll get quicker help if you send email to crs AT mtrad DOT com....
It looks like your installation got fouled by a bug in the PN install process. In the README.html included in the distribution, there's a section that discusses "Manual Installation". Try that and let me know how it works. -

in the mean time can u tell if there is some setting required to be done by hosting company for both core stats module & mtrad stats module to work. you know some kind of PHP setting or some permission etc... -

There is no PHP setting required to collect information. Sometimes, the web server can be configured in a lame manner so that it doesn't provide some (or many) of the environment variables. But that makes it virtually impossible to do any kind of web server statistics, so it's rarely done.
Try getting the statistics module working. Once that's going, then we can clearly see what is being collected and/or not collected. -
