Well, subject pretty much spells out what I'm looking for...
I'm using postnuke .726-3 with pnphpbb 2.12d for my site and we offer a number of downloads for our members. Well, the downloads of late, have been rather frequent and I would like the ability for postnuke or pnphpbb to be able to put a post in a designated forum each time something new is added to the DL section of the site.
If this already exists, what is it called and where can I find it. If it doesn't, then take this as a request.

You can use the Downloads block to disply the late added files. Or - you can use the forum as your Downloads module.
