I have recently put into production postnuke at a very large financial institution (>4000 users). Our managers have been very impressed with the performance and features as well as the incredible speed at which I was able to get it up and running, customize it and all the while, saving money compared to alternatives.
In addition, I have had the pleasure of presenting the project to the Association of Information and Image Management (AIIM). The reactions were positive.
Overall, I have been helping, asking questions and doing my best to contribute to the community and I hope our company can give back in some way (I will push our company to do so.)
So thank you for all your hard work. The cultural change that is happening in my company with regard to open source applications, operating systems, etc. is changing very quickly because of hi-quality products like postnuke.

Thanks for sharing the news Rob, it's encoraging to see more and more companies embracing Open Source technologies. It's especially exciting to see them using PostNuke too. :)

Congratulations on your success story! We launched a PN based intranet for a client of ours a while ago and the reception was quite positive.
Could you share with us some information about the number of pageviews, visitors, machine load and type of hardware you have set up? From my experiences PN can be quite performant on a single machine, but given the huge number of users you service, I'd be curious to see how many servers you've got.
Also, I would be interested in knowing what you're using PN for: are you using stock PN community features (News, Forum, etc.) or did you do develop custom functionality to cover specific required functionalities?
Greetings/Thanks

rgasch,
I will be able to share with you more specifics on page views and visitors soon.
I can tell you that we are running Red Hat ES, PowerEdge 2850 (Dual 2.8 XEON, 2GB DDR. Our storage will eventually be laid out to a IBM Shark/Veritas Filesystem, using SCSI for connection (maybe fibre later, if we can budget for the card). We also have two dev machines. Apache is using virtual servers for each department, which gets its own fresh postnuke install. IT has turned into a little web/db hosting facility!
We are using the PNphpBB2, primarily for a documentation repository and discussion site. We have so many applications and changes that each user can log in, upload their docs with a brief descripton (the metadata) and store it online. Our support and testing departments can view the docs, revise them, etc.
RSS blocks help us overlap information from other departments, that way one department can go to one place and see what's going on everywhere -so cool.
Most of the custom stuff is done on other machines and wrapped into postnuke via postwrap. For me, this allows me to work on web applications on another machine with a custom version of PHP (sybase functionality). Other groups develop in ASP/VB or even C#.NET. If the content is relevant to our group Postwrap can bring it in! We are, however, building custom themes, using AutoTheme.
We are actually thinking of using Reddot CMS for static pages, all integrated within Postnuke!
If I can get microsoft's project integrated with postnuke, I will be promoted to god-like status here at the bank.
So, someone asked what company I work for? Well, here's a hint: "That's my bank!" -

Rob,
We're always looking for case studies and yours would be great! I would be happy to work with you on writing something to post to the community. It is always good for others to learn from others, get ideas, and possibly learn from some of the challenges you faced both technical and "political" with respect to embracing Open Source technology.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Vanessa

I dont see a problem posting a companies name with a project... I respect your decission to remain private, but it is looked favorably for a company who admits to using open source as a technology. If I see a company that uses Open Source, I would perfer to use them over another company. Especially if the value of services are the same. *cough*cough*first*cough*northern*cough*weeze*cough*cough <passes turns="turns" blue="blue" then="then" dies="dies">
Anyways... I hope you will contribute to the code source for postNuke if you do any modifications or modules.</passes>
