Changing Colours in Autotheme Help

I have tried 4 different themes, but whenever i go into Default Theme Colours for the theme in AutoTheme and try to change colours for the background it doesnt work. Why wont the colours change?

Have a look at the other files in the theme directory as well, check for these tags:
bgcolor=""
or
style="background:xxxx"
And the style sheets: styles/stylexx.css
