  Hi, I have modified the postnuke theme from the basic install but I cannot change the links in the upper left. I can't find where to change them.

  Those are probably buried into the theme's language files. In your theme's subdirectory, look for a directory named "pnlang" or "lang" or something similar. Search the *.php files under there and you'll most likely find the links and the text to them.
  
  Though this seems like an odd place for the links, there's logic to it. The reason some themes do the links this way is to make them variable for different languages.
