Hi
I am asking this fine community to recommend a good tool for re-designing the home page of a site currently using a slightly modified core PN theme. What I need is being able to define several blocks/columns and place a different category into each, in order to avoid frequently updated categories (such as News) hiding more long-term items (such as Tutorials or Reviews)
Given that the site is already live, I need that the tool is able to work in parallel with the PN core system, in order to test new designs without disrupting the existing one.
I'm also interested in a way to change the design of the current internal pages (full text of the stories), adding and deleting blocks.
Any assistance will be much welcome. Thanks in advance

There is not really a tool that will do this for you. Basically what you will be doing involves theme adaptation and core module hacking.
A good to help you with the theme will be the newly released AT 0.8 as this makes theme design a lot easier.
Basically define what you need to do point by point and attack it in this fashion, maybe start with the theme and then move on to the adaptations of the core programming. Also note that probably most of what you require can be acheived thru the theme, but it is hard to tell by your description.
Good Luck.

Thanks for your reply. I guess you're right and a new Theme design would be in order, but I don't have the skills and I need to be able to check any modifications without disturbing the current theme.
Basically, what I need is to display Stories in different places, according to their Categories. Currently all stories go into the same center block in reverse chronological order, regardless of their category. I would like to have as many story blocks as Categories in the site.
I hope I have explained myself better now.
