I have installed the photoshare and v4bJournal modules and followed their instructions to allow inclusion of those modules in the search routine (ie copying a specified file into includes/search) but in neither case does the search include those modules.
I have tried reinitialising the search module but that did not help.
Any pointers greatly appreciated. Thanks

Problem solved - it was autothemes causing the problem. Hacked modules/autotheme/includes/postnuke/atcommands.php to include the desired modules in the search and problem sorted. No idea why AutoTheme rebuilds perfectly working code with not working code.
