I successfully installed PNphpBB2 and momentarily had the ability to upload avatars working after setting the correct permissions. then it stopped working.. or that is to say that the browse button has disappeared from the avatar menu. The only thing that changed while before the button disppeared were the settings for how big the avatar could be.
Any ideas before I try reinstalling?

Give your settings a thourough checking. You may have missed a setting. Also, have you been adding any modifications that could have tampered with this file? If all your settings are 100% right, upload clean files and it should be fixed. -

Hmm.. there aren't many settings and I have not made any modifications that I could imagine affecting this at least not before it stopped working. -

OK I reinstalled and now the buttons showup properly in the avatar menu but now I get the following error when I try to post an image.
I have tried setting the permissions on modules/images/avatars/upload to 666 777 775
This is so weird because the first time around it was working?
