I've been looking for some basic info's about what PN is and what you can do with it. Even after a couple of hours I found lot's of detailed info but not a single page stating the basic features of PN.
I'd like to se a simple overview of features not detailed info about modules.
I just installed PN to find out myself but now I have some sort of community website including features I'll never need.
Why wasn't I asked during install to chose which features I need?
I wanted a fairly simple website presenting images, having a message board and some additional pages.
Is ist possible to remove features from the standard installation or to add simple webpages to the PN generated site?

You can inactivate and remove most of modules from admin. You also have control of blocks in admin and in menu block you can drop and add things shown in menu.
If you want to add a message board you must download either pnForum or PNphpBB2
If you want to add a picture gallery, there are again a few choices Gallery , photoshare or My_eGallery
For simple pages, if nothing that comes with Postnuke package suites you have again at least a couple of choices, but to sure would need to know more of what you want.

Some possible solutions for simple pages, first perhaps the simplest : NukeWrapper2, Content Express, Pagesetter and PageEd

So that requires a bit work, searching and learning, but you can have the features you like and not much more with Postnuke. It is not a out of a box solution, but I don't know any other out of box solution either even, if those things you want can be made with other programs too for sure. -

many thx for these info. Of course I didn't expect a out of the box solution. But what I end up with after the installation seems to be a complete community solution with lot's of gimmicks.
It'll be much nicer if I could chose not to have certain modules installed (e.g. Poll). I know lot of webmasters just put everything on their site but I prefer a simpler approach. -

Yes, your are right, what you get after installation is quite propably not want one wants
So next step is go to admin and disable things what you don't want. Hopefully you have found pnGuide as it explains quite a lot things you have to know. After that you propably want add something that is not there. That means finding modules which are not with standard Postnuke and adding them. Where you find them? Some where here, just remember it's a bit like looking in a junk yard.
You are sure not the first or the last one, who will think, that finding things on this site, when you are total noob with Postnuke, is not easy.
