My suggestion is that entire topics in this forum not be deleted. Especially after they have been around for days and have many pages of posts from many users.
If it starts out breaking one of the ever changing rules, then delete it. If it receives an individual post that breaks one of the persoanl tastes rules of someone able to delete it, then maybe delete just that one post.
My feedback is that I shouldn't even need to suggest this and that this atmosphere is crap.
Thanks!

Just FYI, threads aren't deleted but rather moved t a protected mods forum where everyone can examine the thread in question and judge for themselves. If deemed not worthy of being moved, the thread can be returned.
BTW, I agree that it's probably best to trim a thread rather than move the whole thing. -

Ahh, if that's the case with several from today then that seems fine, but it causes a bit of confusion when you're used to following a thread and then, voila, it's gone. Especially when you click on the link in the notification email and you are presented with "The topic or post you requested does not exist".
Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion Shawn. As Spire noted these threads have been moved to a protected mods forum where they can be reviewd.

We are around but not as vocal as we could be on the forums. But we're getting alot done and I'm currently working on a usability study for PostNuke. :) I made an internal announcement for volunteers and will make a more formal announcement on the main site/forums soon for anyone who might be interested in helping.
Good to see you too Shawn. :)

That's a lot of double talk and nonsense and partly untrue. It sounds like something a politician would say. If it is moved to a protected (as in protected from viewing) mods forum, then obviously not everyone can read it as you claim. For most practical purposes, it has been deleted as it can no longer be read by the community.Spire2000

Besides Duster, did you read the threads in question? Do you think Autothemes calling Michael a F***tard should remain un-modded? As I said, I support threads being trimmed not completely removed, but things got way out of hand in the ones that are no longer here. -

Oh please. I meant everyone in the sense of all the mods and pnMGMT.
That's hardly everyone if the community can't read it.
I look for neither. I just wanted an honest statement and did not find it. Your statement sounded like something a politician would say, trying to deny what happened while trying to satisfy everyone. As one American judge says, including in the title of one of her books, "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining."Quote
Don't go looking for conspiracies and slights where there are none.
The messages were removed. At least you recognize that doing so was excessive. It went beyond moderation (as in moderate) into heavy handed control and suppression.
Moderate:
Being within reasonable limits; not excessive or extreme;
Not violent or subject to extremes; mild or calm; temperate -

Just so we're clear, I didn't move anything. The messages removed had plenty of time to be read by the community, witnessed by their 40+ post count in each one.
The choice of the word "everyone" was, I guess, incorrect. I suppose what I should have said was,

I don't know, but the logic of the sentence holds either way.
And I think you need to scroll further down the Dictionary.com page to view the verb version of "moderate" which is what we are talking about here.
Quote
1. To lessen the violence, severity, or extremeness of.
2. To preside over: She was chosen to moderate the convention.
If you want to discuss the rules, be my guest. Argueing semantics is a waste of everyone's time.
