Free theme collection sites?  Bottom

  • Way back when, when PN had first forked from PHP-Nuke, I recall downloading a massive collection of themes -- hundreds of them, all in an archive -- from a PN support site in Germany.

Looking today, I haven't found such a site or archive. There seems to be a good collection at http://www.cms-themes.de/ but I can't seem to find a way to download them. Of course, themes.postnuke.com lists out many themes, but they're listed one or two in an article and it's difficult to check out a large number of them.

I have to think that someone out there has a collection of themes...which leads to my question:

Do you know of any sites which collect or have download ability to a number of free (as in no-cost and liberty) themes?

If so, post the URL in reply to this topic.

(And if not, anyone want to help start collecting such free themes?)
  • I have 20 or so free themes at my site.
They require the free version of AutoTheme Lite to operate but that is a simple to install module.

  • 266 free themes at my site. Mine also require the AT mod. See my sig for links to the module.

  • http://cms-themes.de is pretty damn good. And I can't reccomend http://www.Predatorial-Tendencies.com enough. Also try http://port-all.com. A few commercial ones, but some good free ones too.
  • Yes, CMS-themes.de does seem to have a lot of themes, but am I just clueless -- have you figured out how to download them? For me, the theme download link just goes to a photo gallery of theme screenshots and I haven't been able to figure out how to download them.
  • There is a link under the picture where you click download. They are using My_eGallery with the download plugin.
  • it is a little tiring to have to register at these sites just to view a theme, let alone download one.

http://www.classroomrevolution.com I might not have many themes, but at least you don't have to become spam magnets to get them. No registration required.
  • err.....
    I don't require it.

So please don't group my site like that.

  • Sorry, Maynard, I did not mean your site, one of the few you can enjoy without registration. And, great themes!!! I used a modified redrum for a friends site: http://www.tacopilots.com

I don't mean to disparage registration completely, but.... its a little tiresome on occasion.
  • Most of the time even if the site offers there themes/blocks/mods with out having to join up I still do, just so I can use there forums if I have any probs with them also to show that I am not just a hit and run type of user I will go back just to see whats new and whats happerning on ther forums. As of yet for all the of menny menny sites that I have joined up with to do with PN I have yet to see one bit of spam to come my way form said sites or any at all as I am preatty spam free.
  • I know what you mean. When I offer things for D/L my attitude is that I don't want people cluttering up the database with entries since they're just going to grab something and leave. icon_smile

Thanks for the whack with the clue-bat about CMS-themes.de. I downloaded a couple of dozen themes but they all seem to be for older versions of PN. None of them would run 'out of the box.'
  • Well, rather than to whine about the lack of a source of a number of free PostNuke themes, I decided to do something about it.

I started a project http://noc.postnuke.…cts/pnthemecollect/ in the NOC to collect 3rd party themes and to package them together for the latest stable version of PostNuke. But I need your help.

I'm looking for themes that depend on no more than PostNuke core modules and can be freely modified and redistributed. If you've written or know of a theme that works with PN .726 and/or PN .750RC3 and would like to see your work more widely distributed, send me your theme.

This will allow new (and old!) PostNukers to quickly and easily browse through a large number of themes, seeing different styles, what others are doing, being able to rob some ideas, tactics, and code, and hopefully to help build up a wider and wider variety of PN themes.

If you'd like to submit something, feel free to file-attach a file to me at "intnsred at golgotha dot net" or drop me a message on the site here.
  • Cool. Great idea. I was hunting around for old Postnuke themes the other day and I found nada.
  • Oh my goodness - MMaynard, and http://port-all.com. have INCREDIBLE THEMES! But for heaven's sake guys - It's not the year 3000. You guys make awesome themes but is it possible to build a few that are similar to this site? Blocky, well laid out, easy on the eyes, and utilitarian?

I would gladly pay 10 dollars for a nice theme.
