I would agree to disagree myself, that is, if we were talking about a commercial post, but this was a free post sharing valuable information to the Postnuke community. In fact my last two posts have been concerned with FREE information for the community. Both times I have been attacked personally, with comments that have no place in the public arena, concerning issues that are better suited to being sorted out privately.

Well the attacks on you from what I saw, where carried over from another site. Isn't that right? I've followed that arguement across a few sites in recent months. You and I even spoke of this privately by mail one time when I sent you a link to one of these attacks aimed at you, at a non postnuke site.

When you are making money off of someone elses code, even if you did it by accident, I would think you could always expect some kind of comment to be made.
So in other words, you should have fixed the problem, and his posts should have been removed? Is that what you're saying?

I do not think it's good when any Joe Blogs can wander into Postnuke.com and plant disparaging remarks in the comments of legitimate posts -

Well most Joe Blogs got better things to do I'm sure. Are they attacking because some injustice has been done in someones eye? Yes I'm sure of it. Or, was it all a big mishap that got blown out of shape?

The links in the thread you reference above, and others show the details I think on both sides. I wouldn't call that incident a Joe Blog hit and run as you characterize it here. It Looked more like a mistake was made and you were called on it. Instead of simply correcting it and moving on, you chose to comment... a few times. Now you got clashing personalities involved instead of a mistake with some code that could have been fixed up easily amongst a couple of coders.

remarks that have not and cannot be verified with any hope of accuracy. This sort of thing damages peoples personal reputations and should not be tolarated.

Well that also goes for the forums here. How does anyone know whats accurate and whats not? Personal reputations can't be hurt as bad as you think here. Over time, a persons reputation speaks for itself. Any Joe Blog that comes to just be a problem, is seen for what he is. You've had some choice words to say on this site and others that might not be placing you in the best light as far as others see you and your rep. Instead of fighting against this kind of thing you should be honing your work. (I think) Insuring to do better down the road.

If you're doing no wrong, who are you upsetting? There have been many theme designers come and go around here since I started using postnuke. Never have I seen one of them attacked like some have attacked you. never. Are these just more Joe Blog attacks or is there more here than you're willing to see Lobos?

It's the money and the ways things are progressing around here. That's what I think. ;)

It is noted that those in charge have at times disabled the comments on their own posts when public sentimate has been perceived as going "against the grain". Why can't we all have this option?

    Lobos

Well this and more, happens all the time around here. No one ever calls them on this, they are too busy worrying about making some more beer money off of postnuke.

    Hi Shawn.
I still say xanthia is sh*t and AutoTheme should have been used for the core instead. But, too many clashing personalities and sour comments here and there came into play and some ended up being ignored. I don't recall much of a fight on that issue back when some were comparing the two as apples and oranges.
These fights over commercial posts though, will be remembered for a long while.
  • Infopro!

Nice to see you bud! Keep active so we'll know you're alive. We miss your leadership around here.

For those that don't know, Infopro pretty much built the PostNuke community that we see today (with help of course, but under his leadership) and once he was away it started to eNvolve into the gaggle we are beginning to see.

Any chance in getting you back in a community leadership role here???

    Thanks!

  • Infopro,

I have read your comment and believe that you beleive most problems lie with charging money for my products. You also talk about "When you are making money off of someone elses code", and have been bringing this up concerning me a couple of other times as well.

Let me explain, I would never make a module and sell it - I make web templates that will work with or without Postnuke, they are standalone products and the code that makes them run with Postnuke is GPL and remains GPL (AutoTheme).

Should all web hosts that use Apache, PHP or even have Postnuke or any other GPL code installed to run their servers be required to give hosting for free? Because they are "making money off of someone elses code" are they not? Actually they are worse than me, because their "product/service" will not run without the GPL code.

And yes, about the mistake I made with obscuring a that bit of javascript, am I supposed to have this bought up in every post of mine from now to eternity? Should I just leave it there and not reply to stuff like "code thief" and "Pirate", I think not...
