  google toolbar .... just type is into a google search and install it. its a nice free utility - popup blockers and the whole works

  http://spidean.mckenzies.net switched between 7 and 8 and at one time was at 9 for a week or so. But I've just changed the homepage to a different URL so it is lower now.

  I'm not sure that it means anything. I started a site once and it went 6 within a few weeks so going on that it is all a crock of bullshit in my opinion - have a look around and you will find most people agree. I think alexa.com is probably a better indicator of how well your site is doing - and even that is reliant on visitors having the toolbar installed (I think).
