Need a FREE paypal donations block.  Bottom

  • I went to http://www.postnukemodules.com/ and looked for a FREE palpal donations block.

They want 30 bucks to download it. The site I run is 100% free but I need users to help pay for hosting. If I had 30 bucks to pay for a module I would pay that towards the hosting! :)

Anyways. Is there a free one out there that does the exact same thing that this one does? Allow users to donate and shows the top 5 donations. I can't seem to track one down.

Thanks for your help guys. You always have the answers.
  • make an HTML block wit h a link to your paypal, much easier, i don't know any block :D

But that would not automatically update the top 5 posts.

I'm sure there is a free version of this floating around. If not I will probably have to do this. But the other looks much much nicer.

    Any other suggestions?
  • wendell any idea how much longer until this is complete? is there one out with this functionality that is complete?
  • *bump*
  • I did not mean to imply that it was my work. Just a link to a site with something like you are looking for. Chestnut is the author. It is available for download on his site.
  • Let me clarify some details :
What Wendell wanted to say is that Chesnut has a sideblock named pncPaypal contribute available here http://dev.pnconcept…download-sid-1.html but it will not display the top 5 donators as likwidtek wanted to.
Of course it is possible to edit the block to enter the donators list. If you haven't a lot of donators this is a doable solution (lucky you if this is not doable for you because you have too many donators icon_lol )
If you wants the donators list to be done autoimaticaly this is a more complex tast because you need to know how much money each one donate and only paypal have this info. So you need to activate what is called Instant Payment Notification (IPN) on your Paypal account and have shome PHP script to receive the PayPal info.
But the good news are that Francky Chesnut is working on a module named pncPaypal that will do that (and a lot of wonderfull other things) but it is not currently available.
So if I were you I vould use the block for now and enter the donators myself and make frequent visits to Chesnut site looking at the progress bar for the pncPayPal project until it reach 100%

  • Maybe you should try searching http://blocks.postnuke.com when you need a block. I think you would have saved a bunch of time because you would probably have found this right off: http://blocks.postnu…ead&order=0&thold=0
