Fork me on GitHub

Red "X''s with boxes  Bottom

  • I tried to install this really neat theme called Aqua 3. I put it into my theme directory along with a file called .htaccess that the install I believe said to do, so I went to my web site and all my images have red "X"'s with image names in them but no images. I think I goofed up here and Im looking for help.

    Here is the install notes:
    1) Unpack Aqua3.zip
    2) Secondly, the accompanying .htaccess file must be placed in the Postnuke site root, or for system administrators, Test the .htaccess file by typing in the Short URL in a browser window and see if it links to the right page.
    3) Change by your URL the line 91 Aqua3/themes/Aqua3/functions.php
    4) Upload Aqua3\themes\Aqua3 to your themes directory > /themes
    5) Go to Administration Menu > Settings and activate Aqua3.

I dont see this htaccess file I put in. I reinstalled postnuke, uploaded a saved portion of the original themes folder from a week ago. Nothing is working.
  • Check out my site to see my problem:
  • I'm not sure why they wish you to put an htaccess file in the directory.

I have an AT version of Aqua on my site for free (and you can get the free mod from the link in my signature). I'd recommend you try it.
  • Thanks for the info. As you can tell I am very new at this. I actually emailed AutoTheme because wanted to buy it for my personal web site. They have not responded. Im not sure which to download, unix or windows. Does that depend on the web hoster? If I use AT will it keep what I have so far? Will it fix my problem?
  • Hi there,

there is a free version of AutoTheme also, so maybe you can try that out and then buy when you are comfortable. You can get the theme here : http://spidean.mckenzies.net/

    Kindest regards

  • The mod itself doesn't differentiate between Unix and Windows. And like Lobos mentioned (and I mentioned in my original post), there is a free version of the module for you to try out.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't lose any of the data on your current Postnuke site by moving to an AutoTheme.
  • Thank you for helping. I could not see the htaccess file in my CuteFTP program so I didnt know it was still in there. I went to my web host's file manager program where it was visible and I deleted it. All works fine now. I will definetly download the free MOD because your themes look very nice. Question, I know you cant learn this stuff overnight but is there a book or a type of college course where I could learn this stuff? Thanks again for all the help.
  • The easiest way to learn the AutoThemes module is to jsut dive in and then ask for help when you get stumped. I offer free help by email at warrickATautothemesDOTcom. The beauty of the AutoThemes module is that you may use HTML to create themes. There is no need to learn PHP.

Having said that, PHP is jsut a blast to learn and use. I'm just at the newb PHP level, but I really love programming in PHP.
