  is it possible to arrange news items like they have in some themes for mambo? like for example http://wordbond.com/1/ , this site arranges the news in a triangle, which looks unique compared to most nuke pages and more like a static HTML page

  Search the spidean.mckenzies.net website. Somewhere on that site is an example of code that could be modified to accomplish what you desire with an AutoTheme.
