  In my opinion, we've seen too many complaints about these new titles. The term pnAddict is offensive to some people here and due to the nature of such, should be removed. The pnFreshman title is inaccurate for many people and the pnGod is exactly the kind of ego stroking we don't need around here.
  
  Why have titles at all? I don't think encouraging people to post a ton of irrelevant posts just to get their post count up is in the best interest of these forums.

  That's all this feature has done on every forum I've seen that implements it. That makes it not only a tremendous waste, but counter productive as well. It creates a lot of static and wasted bandwidth.
  
  Furthermore, it emphasizes quantity of posts over quality. I've seen newcomers contribute on their very first post. I've also seen people with a lot of posts to their username contribute nothing worthwhile and sometimes a lot of garbage.
  
  The only time it makes sense is when people can choose their own titles. Only one forum I 've participated on had it configured in that manner though, and you still had to have 100 posts in order to choose your own title.
  
  The titles are just a bad idea in general, and are made especially worse with the ones chosen

  Personally, I don't see the harm in a few ranks - although pnAddict might be something to change. Few people are going to bother posting rubbish simply to obtain a rank - and the people who often post the most (i.e. the support team) dont get a rank anyway.

  Personally i'd change pnAddict but in general it's a bit of harmless fun and shouldn't have too much read into it. There's a few americanism's in there but i'm sure the vast majority of people know what these are and can relate.

  I think Mark and HammerHead have the most accurate suggestions yet. Followed closely by Manarak's idea. Landseer has some of the more politically correct terms. Cragh's pnElder makes the person sound like an old grey haired guy. I personally don't have a problem with the pnAddict, maybe because I've never been one :D

  Why not turn it off at all?
  I personally really don't like these titles, as they provide no additional information. You can see the amount of posts anyway.
