I'm preparing to creat a website for my family, and was wondering anybody who has already has any suggestions on what theme to use? I'm familar with AutoTheme, but really don't have the creative mind to come up with my own theme besides a straight boxes layouts and such.
For those of you who may have created one for your own family, do you think you could share what theme you used?
Thanks

That is kind of a tough question. It all comes down to preference. There are plenty of free themes that I think would be suitable for a family website. But if you really want to have some fun, install an AutoTheme that you like, then learn the themeing system (which really isn't that hard) and start tinkering with the theme to make it your own. -

Thats what I'm expecting to happen. I was just hoping that some of the others here, who may have already put together a site for there own family's could indicate what themes they used.
There are some real nice ones out there, but just need to decide on one I quess. -

That's really a question you have to ask yourself Switch, which ones look like they'd be good for YOU. What I like and use may not be what you'd use. I created my family theme from scratch, but it's back under construction.

Thanks for the Tips. I'm considering a few out there, and may begin putting something together this weekend. Postnuke makes putting together a good site pretty fast.
Not to take the thread topic to far off base, but what about some of the mods for a family site? I know i'll want a PhotoGallery, but not sure what else to maybe include. A few prior searches mentioned a geneology mod, but I couldn't find it. Does something like that exist?
Maybe a chat module would be good too.
Well back to more brainstorming, i mean work

Shoutbox maybe good too. I've used that before. To me, the pnphpbb forum is a no-brainer. Thats a must have.
Looking at some instant messenger stuff too. Is there a cook book mod maybe? Perhaps get the family sharing receipes and stuff.
I know about the calender mods too. But what I'm unsure of if its possible to set the calendar for birthdays, anniversarys etc automatically? Or if that info needs to inputted for each year, which would be a PIA.
I need to start searching all of the postnuke mods out there. -

There's a couple of Recipe modules. I recomend the one from CTImmer. Don't have the link handy though, check noc.postnuke.com, several modules are over there.

There is a mod called pmBox (private messenger). I've used it for awhile. It has a pop up message function for private messages. It was available a www.portalzine.de
if you have trouble finding it, then just drop me an email -

I highly recommend http://lythgoes.net/…ealogy/software.php best $25 I ever spent. There is a free Postnuke addon that works seemlessly with TNG and Postnuke.
This gives you the best of both worlds, Postnuke and a dynamic genealogy database.
