I just wanted to ad that the basic layout of the postnuke CMS system is clunky. It needs to be stream lined and less clicks. I have to do a lot of motification to the blocks to get a normal looking site. Also the font size it a bit to small for my older audience.
I agree postnuke is GREAT! But the layout is very clunky and I am glad to hear it is being addressed.
Thank you.

ndspitirman, you are talking about something different than the original poster. He's noted that the home page of Postnuke does not do what he feels it should, but I don't believe he's talking about the actual Postnuke script itself. The beauty of Postnuke, is that it is so customizable, you can make it look any way you wish. The current default look is set by your theme, and as such every different theme produces a different layout. -

I split this off of the other topic. Don't tack on to other threads, especailly unrelated ones.

Because this was detached from the orginal topic it COMPLETELY changes the meaning. It makes it look like I am ragging on Post Nuke when in fact I was agreeing with what the original poster said. -

Actually, in or out of that post it looks like you are addressing the product, while the orriginal poster was addressing this site, not the product.

I wrote it. I know the meaning behind it. Since this site, is generating from post nuke I am addressing the same issue. It is clunky. Items are hard to find. You have to drill down 4 or 5 times before you get to what your looking for. Sure you can customize and install modules to make it easier, my point is why not have this simplicity already in place at the begining?
What I am saying is how many people really use all the links and modules in the basic version of post nuke?
Why not have something more user friendly with things I can use.
I wouldn't mind a contact module already installed in the original version. Most sites have a contact page.
I wouldn't mind the FAQ being just one category rather than the necessity to drill down into sub categories.
Are you catching my drift? -

ROFL ... sounds much better than it really is my friend.
I agree with your premise. Instead of constantly adding things, I wish to team would fix some of the short-comings that have existed in PN for years. But you have to rememeber that they do it for free and that PN is the best CMS due largely to their dedicated efforts. -

I highly respect all of the work going into postnuke. And thats why I use it on all of my sites. Mentioning that the intial download is clunky was a comment made in agreement to someone who commented on how things were hard to find on this site. I concur.
For example, it is hard to know all the modules that exists.
Would be nice to be able to sort modules in this manner:
by final releases, by betas, by ones that are "official", by ones unofficial
By category. Also by release versions. All of the module makers could fill out a form and submit it to postnuke for auto updates on thier software.
Things like this would be helpful to everyone. -

So back to the topic of disucssion here, you've only further indicated that your post was on a different topic ndnspirtman, and further justifying the split.
PostNuke can not ship as being all things to all people. What you hate about somethings, others actually like. Personally, I don't thing PN should ship with much more than the user system, that includes the current NS-User, NS-NewUser, NS-Groups, NS-YourAccount and Permissions modules. The content modules should be limited even more than they are to just News & Sections, if even that.
As evidenced by the existance of Webvida, AutoThemes.com and other theme developers, everyone's tastes are different, and as such, one person may like the default PostNuke theme, another may prefer the highly graphical in nature themes from Webvida.
PostNuke is a framework, and provides the Admin with the flexibilty to do what they want with their site. .8 will address the issues of modules that are used, only the core system modules will ship with .8, all else will be downloaded seperately.
