I must say that I'm in touch with Drak from The NOC and he invited me to be an admin in the official project. I'm glad for the approachment change and will colaborate with someone with better management skills to make it worth.

    Thanks,

That's just par for the course with Vanessa. I wouldn't assume the community doesn't want it. I would assume that Vanessa doesn't want it. Your webserver / download logs should tell you if the community wants it or not. You might need to find other ways to let the community knows it exists though since the PN management doesn't seem to want to help. They probably view you as competition. It's sad they don't have the backbone to at least tell you why it wasn't approved.

    -Chris

Chris, you don't know me and for you to assume I'm the only one approving articles for PostNuke is wrong.

With respect to your assumptions about us not wanting to support this effort is also WRONG, if Steve is taking on the task of organizing and maintaining a centralized repository for pndownloads then we would be happy to tell the world.

With respect to a centralized repository on the main PostNuke site, as a project it has been a difficult task because of the flux in the code and the varying quality of modules. As mentioned before there have been many attempts to create something like this several times by many people over the years and its not an easy task.

Having said that it has always been the intention for PostNuke to set up a centralized downloads for mods, themes, blocks but for many reasons it hasn't happened.

But in the meantime if Steve (AKA pawmarks) wants to take on maintaining this resource for the community as I said before we would have no problem making an announcement about his site.

And finally, I would like to personally invite Steve (AKA pawmarks) to join PostNuke to work with us in creating a PostNuke centralized respository happen. There are many things to consider especially when certifying the mods with respect to API compliance etc but as we progress in the code I think this will be less and less of a challenge.

Registered users get a more advanced view with column filtering. This is something I'm maintaining for my own purposes. Feel free to use it as an information resource, tho.
  • yeah ...

I'we started about two years ago with some kind of modules/themes/blocks repository but it was stopped with further progress.

Site is still online, but don't know is there possibility to have it online. I'we started it since it was not any kind of repository sites related to *Nuke CMS.

under your opinions, is it possible that site like this one have any kind of fututre ... thx...

    and link:

    http://www.cmsindex.com

    cya,
  • 2 things:
pndirectory.com , .net .org or any others are all for sale. Nobody ever registered this.

I tried to make site with a directory on it. The site is not completed yet, and I stopped putting modules in it myself.

The site is PostNuke'd and called www.cmsmodules.com I dont intend to host the files, but as I use Pagesetter to make the list, the "owner" of the "item" can modify his own postings, and if anyone have updates like version numbering, downloads and etc. they can submit a change of the item and a moderator or administrator can submit the changes. Old versions are stored in the database for roll backs.

I will share this with anyone interested.

Saying this I will support any efforts within the PostNuke.com domain to make a complete list, but I think the list should start from v. 0.8 compliant modules. Otherwise there will be to much work for anyone to do. Then this can be setup correctly and only hold the modules that are proven to "work", and wich fills certain demands.

Why not start with new/updated releases from the time it starts? The data gathered on a module should include what versions it works with.

THe only criteria that should be considered for being included in the list is
    1. It works
    2. All required info is included in the release info.

  • The problem I am having is to find all the modules, and to get info about them. I would preopose that developers submit and update the list them selves. The team around the list should check the module, and I think it would be a good signal to send to the community to add a comment from a pnPro (a person who have good knowledge of PostNuke modules) that this module is recommended - the forums and sites like mine can be used for all the not so pro modules. A central list should not be easy to get on, but possible if the code is good enough to get a "verified to work with pnVersion X".
I dont like the term API compliant (in the list) - it makes no sense to new members.

New members aren't the only intended audience, just the biggest. It's OK to still be helpful to more advanced members of the community. ;)
