RealEstate module?  Bottom

  • Hi there,

I'm looking for a real estate module where users can add real estate listing to the postnuke portal. Does anybody a good real estate module for postnuke??? Please help me.

    Thanx!

    Kind regards,
    Rick Smit
  • I am developing a commercial rewrite for an older module called OpenRealty. Our dev site is down at the moment, but I'll post back when it goes up.

Basically we have added a crapload of new features. You can now list communities and subcommunities or individual properties. You can put properties in a community. You can upload pics to a community or property and give each pic a comment; the pics and comments are displayed in a nice flash gallery. Communities have a great feature which allows you to add a custom menu to each community. We call this the "links" feature. Basically, you can add and order links like "Local Schools" and either give it a URL to link to (and choose to open in new window or not) or HTML content to display. Its a cool idea that we got straight from our real estate agents who are helping us develop the module. You can choose default pics for the community to display as thumbnails and same for the properties.

Anyways, its shaping up to be a great module and I'll let you know when we get our dev site live again so you can see it in action.
  • I have not used nor seen it, but I believe the guys over on www.miragelab.com may have something for real estate.

Can you please tell me when this will be ready? I need this module in a short period of time, so I really hope this will be what i'm looking for. Do you already know how much this module will cost???
  • Yeah, thiers is a mildly tweaked version of OpenRealty. They just have a setup of PostNuke specially configured for it. Our dev site is back up now so you can check out our flavor here: http://dev1.thewebso…penRealty&func=main

Let me know if you have any questions on it. There are several options out there, but most PostNuke solutions will be based on OpenRealty. I guess it just depends on which set of features you need. Ours is still being actively developed pretty much full time.

  • Rick, shoot me an email and I'll get you admin access to the tool. We hit a pretty major milestone this morning with full blown HTML editing support for the tool, including images, in all the content.

This way you can see if our solution is what you need or not.

Thanks for the interest Rick. We must have been posting at the same time last time.
  • One of the best Realty mods I've seen so far is one for PHPnuke called showcase. You can see the site here: http://www.ibdeeming.com . He used to have a link to show an example of it but I can't find it now.
I spoke with the author and he is just too busy with his other mods to port it to PN. I think if a PN developer contacted him, he would be willing to let someone tackle the conversion from PHPN to PN. I can't do it since I'm a moron when it comes to programming but I just thought I would throw it out there in case anyone has the urge to do a little hacking.
A while back, I started a thread on his forum asking for a PN conversion and if you want to add your two cents, here is the link:

  • Just wanted to let you know that I have a little better demo up now. This is a demo site for a client but it can do a better job of showing you how your site could look and feel.

  • Hi sorry to butt in on this thread but is their a payment component for listing? I'd like to see the admin interface if possible? how much will it cost?.

  • Sorry to bother too but it sounds very exiting.
Is there a beta or upcoming release date yet?

  • I have a meeting with these guys on Tuesday, so in the interest of making sure I know what will be on the site when I meet with them I am not going to open it up just yet. However, I hope that after that meeting is over I will be able to open up admin access to the site for everyone. I will provide two logins, one admin and one normal user so that you can see how the site would work from any perspective. We have not set a price yet, it will depend on what you need. If you already have a site and just want to use the module on it, it won't be very expensive. We are working on hosting packages with pre-installs done for you. That will mean that you will pay $X per month and as soon as you sign up you will have a PostNuke site with the real estate module installed and configured as per your customized information. Theme design will be separate and available. We have some very talented theme artists at our disposal, or you can use someone else if you would prefer.

Thanks for you interest in this guys, we've worked very hard on it. The app is constantly evolving too. One of the benefits of letting us host your site will be automatic and free upgrades too, so that is something else to think about.

  • I'm interested too, so will look for your next post. I tried using OpenRealty, but users can't post, only Admins, which is not very useful for me. I would like to charge for Real Estate listings. Hope that's included (PayPal).
  • Okay, the meeting went great and I'm pretty sure they are going to want the system. So thanks for your patience! I have now created a generic Admin and user account for the demo site. You can login as Admin with password "admin" in order to see the improvements to the backend. Here is the URL for the demo site: http://www.thewebsol…ealestate/index.php

Again, we are working out details on pricing for different packages (ie, just the module, module + hosting, module + hosting + theme design for agents and firms...ect). Play with it, but please be respectful of the other people testing out the module. I will be restoring the DB every 24 hrs or so to the original state.

Vermillien, not sure exactly what your experience is with PostNuke, but the OpenRealty module had a pretty good permissions scheme and granting "Add" rights to a particular group (ie "registered") would allow them to create new properties. We kept that security schema with our improvements, so establishing an "agents" group that is allowed to make changes to the module is not hard. The difficult thing is making it so that only the user who added the property can edit it. The module is not really designed for the "open house" kind of site where anybody can come list a homesite. It is more targeted to agents and brokerages who want a way to list featured properties/communities effeciently. Plus, the layout is far superior (in my opinion) to other out-of-the-box real estate systems.

Hi leason, thanks for your post below are some things! I encountered whilst playing around as Admin.

No link to "view Properties" as opposed to "View Communities" in admin .

    Config
Prehaps a "Construction" field e.g. Brick,Weather Board etc.
    Prehaps "Style" field e.g. Edwardian,Victorian,Neo-Metric,Gothic
    or
the ability to add more Property and Community features.

Inclusion of an ad type e.g. Basic Listing, Enhanced listing or paid and unpaid and how much and for how long.

One of my "cities"goes missing at http://www.thewebsolutionsgroup.com/realestate/index.php?module=OpenRealty&func=viewprops.

The ability to display Communities and or Private Listings on the index page?

When adding a community, I am unable to add community features to the community?

Perhaps the ability to select the search criteria on the index page e.g. Agent,House,Flat,Buy,Rent etc?

There is some layout width problems in http://www.thewebsolutionsgroup.com/realestate/index.php?module=OpenRealty&type=admin&func=modify&or_hid=2

    Adding a property
Prehaps the ability to attach a contact type e.g. Developer/Agency/Agent/Owner to the property or community and then add the agent to the "Agents" in pngroups and thereafter admin would be able to give the groups/users appropriate permissions.

I found adding images after the listing a little off-putting as a user I prefer that the image uploads was done one time only, so if my config allows 3 images per listing then I should upload the 3 images at once as part of the listing process.

    Not sure about what these represent or how to use;
    Multiple Listing Svc #
    Neighborhood
Virtual Tour URL (is there one)
    Path: body

    Include # of Toilets?.
    Include # of Total Rooms?.
Unable to add full description in http://www.thewebsolutionsgroup.com/realestate/index.php?module=OpenRealty&type=admin&func=new

Admin ability to activate or deactvate listings

Admin/User ability to view listings by Type (Basic/Enhanced) Agencies, Owners, Brokers, status (active, inactive, expired).

With regards to the permissions system you could do something like below couldnt you?
    Group Component Instance Permission Level
Agency Open Realty Addlisting:Add Community Moderate
    Agent Open Realty Addlisting Add
    Owner Open Realty Addlisting Add

For mine I would use the mod only.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Michael
