Help, I've crashed my site with an autotheme  Bottom

  • I installed Business2 AutoTheme from autothemes.com and when I selected it in settings and saved I get the following screen:

Fatal error: call to undefined function: themeheader() in /home/samsin1/public_html/header.php on line 188

Other then re-installing the whole program, anybody have any ideas on how to get my site back online?
  • For the third post on this same topic today; please, please use the forum search function. This a common topic and the answer can be found in the many previous threads on this subject - use the Swiss Army Knife tool from downloads.postnuke.com and test your theme prior to setting it as the default using index.php?theme=themename.

Please bear in mind we're all volunteers and try to answer as many queries as possible. In order that we can continue to do so we expect people to use to tools available to them so that we don't have the answer the same question over and over.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant; It's only partly aimed at you but this is probably the 20th or so time the same query has been asked in the last few days......

  • I certainly appreciate all of the help I have received the last few days trying to learn postnuke and I do make newbie mistakes like forgeting to search first. Sorry. However, I have spent over the last hour on the fourms searching for swiss army knives and searching the downloads area(if it is there, I can't find it). I have found a few links to dead pages in the fourms. I finally found it at sourceforge and lo and behold, the search says that the page can't be found. Can anyone point me to this elusive script? Thanks in advance and I hope I am not spoiling your day with questions.

Found it. It would have bit me if it was a dog, it was right in front of me. Thanks.
  • There could be alot of reason the theme doesnt work.

1: Is the auto theme module installed on your site correctly?
2: Coding error in the theme.

You can reset the theme while you work on it, instructions can be found:

Dont expect too much direct help on these forums, most of them just tell you to search.

I am in the works of building a FAQ for people to goto so that they can get answers easier.

(Ps if you ever have multi site problems dont bother asking here either )
  • The Swiss Army Knife tool can be found at http://downloads.postnuke.com. Place it in your PN root and call it up from the browser. Remove the file afterwards as it bypasses all PN security in order to fix the problems it fixes.

Common causes of the problem are outlined in this FAQ and the Swiss Army Knife tool (PSAK) is outlined in this FAQ.

Sorry ;) but you bore the brunt of seeing the same question asked for about the zilliionth time recently.

Advising someone to use the tools available in order to help themselves is actually a much better idea than simply answering the same question time and time again as it provides a longer term solution to not only the first problem but, hopefully, an insight into obtaining solutions to future problems. It's merely a case of balancing the available time (since we're all volunteers).

In fact people may be able to spend more time answering the more in depth questions (like multisites - not that I personally have ever installed a multisite) if not for answering the more common queries on a regular basis. So pointing people at the search function, the FAQ's is a valid support technique.

Rather than provide an additional FAQ perhaps you'd care to help work on the existing resources by writing and answering FAQs, writing documentation etc. This is the role of the pnCorps; e-mail hammerhead at postnuke dot com if this is of interest to you.
