There is a website whose format I like (http://www.mmorpg.com). What I like about it is the area block news feeds that link to the actual news inside the portal. This keeps the frontpage nice an clean (and short).
The problem I am having is that I downloaded some examples from predatorial tendencies (nice theme work BTW), specifically, reloaded and redrum redux and got a modded format that looked like so:
[ top ]
[left] [ar1] [ar2] [right]
[ bottom ]
of course the problem is anytime I want to post a story i get this:
[ top ]
[STORY]
..
[STORY]n+1
[left] [ar1] [ar2] [right]
[ bottom ]
ar1 and ar2 would be Core/stories blocks filtered on topic. So I think the only thing i need to do is keep the stories from being posted on the main page.
anyhow, I wanted to post this and maybe by the time i finish searching all the posts if i dont find an answer someone will have answered :)
thanks!
Greg

i found this link
http://forums.postnuke.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=13073&highlight=remove
which gave me the idea to use the template module to just dump an empty set and then from admin-settings, change the News to Template (ill rename it after im done testing).
Anyhow it worked but is this a good way? Is there better ways to do this?
thanks

Ummm, maybe I'm drunk (likely), but I have no idea what you're talking about in either one of your posts.

No prob :) Maybe i was drunk when i wrote it.
First look at this websites frontpage format:
http://www.mmorpg.com
Notice on the above links frontpage theres no huge centerblock of stories that scroll down. Instead it is 2 blocks comprised of links to the actual stories themselves. The first being latest news updates and the other upcoming releases.
I am wanting to do something like that. Basically create area blocks in the center where the news stories normally go. One block would be a core/story block containing links to all the news posts (which are not being displayed in the front page).
So when I add-story, I do not want them to show up on the frontpage.
thanks,

So you're using an AutoTheme theme, so you have total control over how the stories look when listed on the home page and can change them probably in the summary.html and possibly the summary2.html.
But if you want to remove theme completely, then first -- search for a post on Blank module or Start module and implement that as your home page. Then use the AutoBlocks (areas) in AutoTheme to create your story blocks.
