Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me answer a question. I downloaded a theme and the side links are like "BLAH+main.html" and the links are not directing anywhere. Is there something else I need to download for this to work? -

Yep, those are short URLs all right. Check out this post or try a search (note highlighted search terms) for more information on implimentation.
Your other option would be to edit the theme and change the links to the "full" version.

The symptom sounds like it's a Simple URL implementation, usually part of the MTmodular theme.Lilan6eL

But with MTmodular, Simple URLs are turned off by default. So, either you got some other hacked version or you turned Simple URLs on.
To fix your problem, either turn off Simple URLs or complete the Simple URL installation.... (ie - you are probably missing the .htaccess file, among other things.)
