Hi. Well I'm finally posting this new topic cos I can't find anywhere a simple YES or NO about developing PostNuke WebSites for money. I understand we can't sell the software but can we charge people money to build websites for them using PostNuke as the CMS on the web site? I have a lot of offers at the moment and I want to make sure I'm not infringing on anybody's license. I looked at the copyleft document on the GPL/GNU website and it does talk about charging or something, but what does this mean?
For example could I develop a site for somebody and then invoice them like this:
examplesite.com
Hosting - 100 dollars for the year
Domain Registration - 20 dollars for two years
Software - Free
Website development and configuration - 100 dollars or whatever the time taken on the project * hourly rate.
Are there any problems with this?
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Dave

Yes.... To me the document is pretty clear, in fact your initial assertion that you can't sell of the software is also not true..... some quotes from the document
"Actually we encourage people who redistribute free software to charge as much as they wish or can"
"Selling a copy of a free program is legitimate, and we encourage it."
"Except for one special situation, the GNU General Public License (20k characters) (GNU GPL) has no requirements about how much you can charge for distributing a copy of free software. You can charge nothing, a penny, a dollar, or a billion dollars. It's up to you, and the marketplace, so don't complain to us if nobody wants to pay a billion dollars for a copy"
That seems to make if pretty clear. You can even sell PN if you want.... Of course no one's going to pay you for something that can be obtained for free. It's up to you to add value to the customers purchase by providing additional services around the free software.
