Postnuke is great, I like it a lot...
But the website I'm developing isn't just providing news, downloads and a user forum. I want it to have plenty of static content with at least 1,000 pages for my visitors to navigate through.
I haven't (yet) found another Postnuke site that offers a large variety of content such as what I would like to provide.
I have spent plenty of time configuring and evaluating the static content modules currently available and here are my problems:
ContentExpress: Cannot handle 1,000 items as the page edit lists all the items previously created. Isn't geared up to handle so many different documents.
PagEd: I thought PagEd might do something similar to ContentExpress but it's more geared to newspaper style reporting and not static content.
htmlpages: Not really geared up to handle 1,000 pages.
I'm left with StaticDocs, which can handle my content but now I'm just wondering what the point is of using the Postnuke CMS if I have to mess around with managing 1,000 HTML files???
Does anyone here know of a better way I can provide content to my visitors or if I should just dump the whole idea?
Thanks guys,
Simon.

You can use Pagesetter as well.
If you do not want "content management" but just deliver HTML files, you should have a look at Static_Docs as well.

Sections, baby... (with a decent WYSIWYG editor patched in, or just paste from your local machine)

Sounds like a job for Mambo Open Source (www.mamboserver.com). Its a little like PostNuke, but you can add your own pages. I think this would be better for what your trying to do. -

I believe Pagesetter will do the job - at least it's designed to it. If it fails then let's see what we can do about it.
But you need the CVS version to get browsing through all your pages instead of showing all at once. -

Hmm, I use PagEd on one site to manage about a hundred static pages and it works great. I don't use any of the newspaper reporting features it offers because thats not what I need it for, but it handles the static content fine.

I looked at StaticDocs and came to the same conclusion as you. It did not fit in with what I was trying to do which was manage a lot of static content.
Pagesetter seems to be building a good user base, but I haven't had time to play with it yet.
