Are filenames like "header.html" required or can I call them top.html just as long as I make sure the include call is correct?

I'm pretty sure they can be called whatever you like; I've seen themes that also include a great number of other .html files (article.html, sidebox.html, etc.) that they seem to be using the way CSS are supposed to be used (e.g., to separate content from layout.)
